We’re working on a full write-up of ticketing strategies, but until then, here are a few links for finding Broadway show tickets.
Telecharge
Owned by the Shubert Organization, Telecharge sells most of the tickets to Broadway shows — and provides links to the proper ticketing agencies for those which they don’t represent. Their web site lets you look for tickets over a range of dates, and let’s you pick your exact seats from a 3D, interactive seating chart.
StubHub
StubHub is predominatly a ticket re-seller whose rates will usually be higher than those of the above two direct-ticket sellers. However, when looking for hard-to-find show tickets, they often have inventory that the direct-sellers don’t — usually people re-selling their seats at a mark-up. But they are quite legit and it can be a great source when a show is otherwise “sold out.”
TKTS
TKTS sells same-day discount tickets to Broadway seats which have gone unsold (as well as Off-Broadway and some dance performances). They are often 20% – 50% off the face-value of the ticket, and include some of Broadway’s biggest shows!
Tickets cannot be purchased online, but only at one of their four in-person venues: Times Square (flagship location), South Street Seaport, Downtown Brooklyn and Lincoln Center. Expect long lines in Times Square, but note they have a “Play Express” window — a special window which ONLY sells play tickets — no musicals, dance, or music performances. As a result, the “Play Express” line often moves more quickly.
