Winner of six Tonys® including Best Musical, Disney’s The Lion King showcases the talents of one of the most acclaimed creative teams on Broadway. Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor re-imagines the popular story using some of the theater’s most extraordinary stagecraft. The Lion King also features the work of Tony Award-winning choreographer Garth Fagan and a score crafted by the Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Elton John and Tim Rice.

Regardless of age, all children will need their own ticket.
My THEATRE WEEKEND
OUR TAKE
The Lion King has been on Broadway for nearly 3 decades. It’s been performed in over 100 cities and 19 countries since its opening, and in many ways, was the lynchpin show for Broadway’s resurgence in the mid-1990s. It’s a must-see if you haven’t experienced it already! Julie Taymor’s magical direction earned her a Tony® for Best Direction of a Musical (she was the first woman to be bestowed this award!) and continues to make audiences gasp. Her inspired use of puppetry techniques from around the world make the jungle setting come alive. Believe me: when the “cast” of animals enters the theatre and walks down the aisles, you’ll be hard pressed to hold back tears of joy! Although this show launched the ever-growing trend of screen-to-stage musicals, this show still feels different in its avant-garde presentation. The producers opted for an inspired re-invention of a Disney classic movie and not a line-by-line copycat.
A must-see!
