Spend an evening in the company of unforgettable strangers at The Band’s Visit. The winner of 10 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, The Band’s Visit is now one of the most Tony Award-winning musicals in history. It rejoices in the way music brings us to life, brings us to laughter, brings us to tears, and ultimately, brings us together.

In an Israeli desert town where every day feels the same, something different is suddenly in the air. Dina, the local café owner, had long resigned her desires for romance to daydreaming about exotic films and music from her youth. When a band of Egyptian musicians shows up lost at her café, she and her fellow locals take them in for the night. Under the spell of the night sky, their lives intertwine in unexpected ways, and this once sleepy town begins to wake up.

The Band’s Visit features music & lyrics by David Yazbek, book by Itamar Moses, and was directed by David Cromer

The Band’s Visit is suitable for kids ages 12+, and children under 4 are not permitted in the theatre.

OUR TAKE

When The Band’s Visit opened, Billboard magazine called it “a masterpiece of small but powerful moments!” And that sentiment couldn’t be more true.

It’s a musical filled with beautiful songs and a ton of heart. What it isn’t is a big, splashy, Broadway musical in the traditional sense: it’s only one act, there’s no dance number to speak of, and it’s a little slow-moving. But these elements are what make it truly unique.

Mirroring the pace of the quiet, desolate town in which it takes place, The Band’s Visit is about finding love in unexpected places, and of people coming together who were never even meant to be found in the same place. It just comes at you in a whisper, rather than a roar.

The Band’s Visit was one of my favorite shows of 2017 (when it opened), and its score still plays regularly on my speakers at home.
