Once On This Island is the universal tale of Ti Moune (2018 Tony® nominee Hailey Kilgore), a fearless peasant girl in search of her place in the world, and ready to risk it all for love. Guided by the mighty island gods (played by Darlesia Cearcy, Glee’s Alex Newell, Greenleaf’s Merle Dandridge, and Cats’ Quentin Earl Darrington), Ti Moune sets out on a remarkable journey to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.

The groundbreaking vision of two-time Tony Award nominated director Michael Arden (Spring Awakening revival) and acclaimed choreographer Camille A. Brown (NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live) conjures up “a place where magic is possible and beauty is apparent for all to see!” (The Huffington Post). What My Theatre Weekend Says:

Seeing ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is like a mini-escape to the Caribbean. Set in-the-round at the Circle in the Square theatre, the stage is covered with sand and water -- and a goat -- and is joyous and magical. The 90-minute musical is based on the 1985 novel "My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl" by Rosa Guy -- but you may recognize elements of "Romeo and Juliet" and, some would say, even "The Little Mermaid". Star-crossed lovers from different socio-economic circles come together for an affair that requires some magic to make the love last forever -- but not in the way you'd expect. A powerhouse cast delivers a performance you won't forget: after all, the show won the Tony® for Best Revival of the Musical in 2017. ONCE ON THIS ISLAND was also the recipient of The Olivier Award for Best Musical when it originally opened in London in 1995.
