For over five years, Beautiful, the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning Carole King musical, has thrilled Broadway with the inspiring true story of one woman’s remarkable journey from teenage songwriter to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

From the string of pop classics she wrote for the biggest acts in music to her own life-changing, chart-busting success with Tapestry, Beautiful takes you back to where it all began – and takes you on the ride of a lifetime.

Featuring over two dozen pop classics, including “You’ve Got a Friend,” “One Fine Day,” “Up on the Roof,” “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” and “Natural Woman,” this crowd-pleasing international phenomenon is filled with the songs you remember – and a story you’ll never forget.

Beautiful—The Carole King Musical is recommended for ages 11 and up. (There is no foul language, but there is talk about the use of drugs.) Please be advised that children under the age of four will not be permitted into the theatre.

OUR TAKE

It’s difficult to be anything but in total awe of Carole King after seeing the musical based on her life, BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL. After selling her first song to acclaimed producer Don Kirshner at the tender age of 16 (having just been doubly promoted in high school), her career just continued to rise and rise — but not without some hiccups in her personal life, including a philandering husband (who was also her main lyricist). If you’re of a certain age, the music she wrote is woven into the fabric of your life.

Performed at first by a myriad of Top 40 artists (including The Shirelles, The Drifters, The Righteous Brothers, and even The Monkees), it wasn’t until the career-changing, deeply personal album “Tapestry” that Carole felt the need to step in front of the microphone herself and perform her own songs.

By the time this happens in the musical, the audience has nearly forgotten that it’s not Carole herself onstage, bursting numerous times into spontaneous applause — like when she steps up to the microphone to record “Natural Woman…” or when an announcer introduces her for her debut performance at Carnegie Hall.

You can’t help but feel good after the show thanks to both the uplifting story of a humble, deeply-talented young woman with roots in working-class Brooklyn coming into her own, and to her brilliant music that has been ingrained in our lives for 40+ years.
